Yesterday, Larian Studios announced that 1.3 million players have completed Baldur’s Gate 3. The game is unquestionably one of the best to release in 2023, so its popularity is by no means in question. To celebrate, it released some, well, interesting Baldur’s Gate 3 player stats. These were some of our favorites:
8,196 years in the Character Creator
Considering the game’s in-depth character customization options, it should come as no surprise that Larian Studios reports players spent a combined 8,196 years in the Character Creator. That’s a lot of time choosing between shaven or unshaven — if you know what we mean.
Paladins and Elves are the top choices
Following the character customization stats, Paladins reigned supreme, with almost 4 million players choosing it as their preferred class. They were followed by Sorcerors with almost 3.5 million players. Sadly, there was not much Cleric love — it was the least chosen class with only about 1.8 million players. When looking at races, Elves, Humans and Half-Elves were the top choices, all hovering around 5 million players. The bottom choices included Half-orcs, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings.

Berserker Barbarians, oh my
Looking at subclasses, the most popular was by far the Berserker subclass for Barbarians. Considering that this subclass prioritizes dealing extra damage while raging while rendering enemies more vulnerable through fear, it’s an understandable choice. The second most popular was the College of Lore subclass for Bards, followed by the Tempest Domain subclass for Clerics.
People like Gale
Surprisingly, Gale remains the most-played Origin character with 446,799 games. Astarion closely follows him with 424,538 games. Wyll and Lae’zel are tied as the two least played, with around 230,000 games each.

…But people LOVE Shadowheart
Shadowheart dominated the love-interest stats, with a whopping 51.3% of players reaching the final act of her romance arc.
Scratch was pet 48.5 million times
But who’s surprised there? He’s a good boy.
Speaking to the dead is a valuable hobby
Over 113 million corpses were spoken to by players since the game’s launch. Considering that speaking to corpses reveals unique insights into the story, it’s worth trying if you haven’t already.

1.24 million sentient wheels of cheese
If 1.3 million players have completed Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s funny to think that almost as many players have spent a portion of their gameplay as a sentient cheese wheel. This happens when players successfully pass a Wisdom check at Akabi’s Wheel in the Circus of the Last Days located in Rivington.
Looking at these Baldur’s Gate 3 stats, it’s clear to see just how much of a cult following the game has conjured up within these past few months. We look forward to seeing how it performs at The Game Awards 2023 streaming tomorrow, December 7.
