Rumor: A New Crash Bandicoot Game is in the Works

In a year where we’ve seen the likes of Rayman and Spyro make their long-awaited return, it is safe to say nearly anything is possible in gaming. So when we look to other iconic gaming mascots, the one that comes to mind in a flash is Crash Bandicoot. The most recent installment in the Crash franchise was 2020’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. And according to a new leak, work has begun on Crash’s next big adventure.

A Crash Course

According to the leaker noarmsandnolegs on X, a new Crash Bandicoot game is scheduled, but fans will have to wait because the game has no plans to be revealed any time soon. This leaker has amassed quite a track record when referring to their various leaks over recent weeks. This same leaker spoke on the  Spyro 4 reveal days before Xbox’s Summer Showcase and has hit on Rayman leaks as well.

A new Crash Bandicoot game is scheduled too, but will not be unveiled for the moment.

It is worth taking into account that Toys for Bob has their hands full at the moment with production in full swing on Spyro. But the studio does intend to work on Crash 5 somewhere down the line. This essentially means that we are very unlikely to see anything Crash Bandicoot related for a good few years unless another unnamed studio is behind it.

Its About Time

The resurgence of classic 3D platformers is a trend that should continue in the world of gaming. The franchises that have gotten a facelift recently are among the most iconic gaming franchises to date. And while it may be weird to think that even though Crash Bandicoot began his life on the PlayStation 1 with Naughty Dog, Xbox is the one that will usher in a new chapter in the Crash Bandicoot franchise. And for Xbox, they have all the more reason to churn out games that players of all ages can enjoy for years to come.
